Upcoming symposium to focus on the Common Core State Standards

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 11, 2012 17:17 PM

Once the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) are fully implemented, students in schools that have adopted this national education initiative will be learning at the same pace as pupils in other CCSS member states.

However, as many schools face drastic changes to their curricula, some educators may seek assistance implementing the Standards. From February 8-10, these individuals can attend the Evans Newton Incorporated Winter 2012 Common Core State Standards and Transformational Leadership Symposium in Scottsdale, Arizona.

This event will be hosted by Paul D. Houston, the founding partner of the Center of Empowered Leadership, who is also an advocate of the CCSS. During the Symposium, Houston will moderate a panel discussion featuring nationally recognized practitioners and thought leaders.

"While there are no silver bullet solutions to education, learning more about the Common Core will put an important tool in educators' hands," Houston said.

Following the Symposium, educators will be equipped with CCSS implementation ideas and educational strategies that may lead to increased student learning. Attendees will also receive a signed copy of Houston’s latest book, titled Giving Wings to Children’s Dreams: Making Our Schools Worthy of Our Children.
