Biweekly webinar series to prepare educators for the Common Core

THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 23, 2012 16:22 PM

After a day of teaching, educators who wish to know more about the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) have a chance to become students and attend a series of Pearson-run webinars on the national initiative.

Between now and May 10, the learning company will help educators prepare for the implementation of the CCSS through its biweekly webinar series. Every Tuesday and Thursday from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. EST, teachers can turn on their computer and participate in Pearson’s Get Ready To Go! series.

The biweekly format allows Pearson to cover a wide range of topics between now and May 10. For instance, those who register for the webinar series will learn about what types of professional development will help prepare them for the new Standards, and how the Common Core will make them into better teachers.

The various online sessions will also feature education experts, who will speak about specific topics. For example, professor Mary Ellen Vogt of California State University will speak about the seven steps toward 21st-century schools and districts, while Ken Kay, chief executive officer of EdLeader21, will highlight 10 things educators should know about the CCSS.
