WEDNESDAY, MARCH 27, 2013 11:38 AM

During the 2013-2014 academic year, schools in Arizona will fully implement the Common Core State Standards (CCSS), according to the Arizona Department of Education's CCSS website. As this time frame is fast approaching, students and their parents are going to want to make sure they are ready for the new Standards and what they will mean for instruction in Arizona.

Fortunately, many school districts are committed to ensuring families are prepared for the CCSS and are holding informative events for their benefit. The Gilbert Unified School District is among these school systems, as it recently announced it will host two forums on the CCSS, the East Valley Tribune reported.

The first forum will be held on April 1 at Highland High School, while the second will take place April 16 at Gilbert High School. At these events, District officials will go over the CCSS' origin, as well as their approach to implementing them.

For parents and community members interested in learning more about the Common Core, these types of information sessions can go a long way in increasing their comfort with the new Standards.
