General Description of the Tests

Michigan Educational Assessment Program (MEAP)

  • Grades: 3-9
  • Subjects: English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies


MI-Access

  • Michigan's alternate assessment system, designed for students with cognitive impairments


MEAP-Access

  • Grades: 3-8
  • Subjects: Reading/Writing, Mathematics
  • Intended to bridge the gap between the MI-Access assessments and the Michigan Educational Assessment Program (MEAP) for students with disabilities
  • Designed to provide a valid, reliable and fair measure of the achievement of students who struggle with the academic content areas, and who are not currently able to meet grade-level achievement standards for the grade in which they are enrolled


National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP)

  • Grades: 4, 8, 12
  • Known as the Nation's Report Card
  • A representative sample of Michigan schools selected for federally-sponsored and reported national assessment results
