- English, Mathematics, Science, and History/Social Science
Virginia Alternative and Alternate Assessments - Virginia Grade Level Alternative (VGLA)
- Grades 3 through 8 - Students with disabilities that prevent them from accessing the SOL test(s) in a content area, even with accommodations, may participate in the VGLA.
- Virginia Alternate Assessment Program (VAAP)
Grades 3 through 8 and 11 Students with the most significant cognitive disabilities
National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) - NAEP has been an operational national assessment since 1969 and Virginia has been part of NAEP testing since 1990.
- Students aged 9, 13, and 17 - Reading and Mathematics
- Grades 4, 8, and 12 - Reading, Mathematics, and Science
- Grade 8 - Arts assessments in Music and Visual Arts
