Assessment Information
California Standards Tests (CSTs) - For all students unless they have an individualized education program that indicates assessment with the CAPA or CMA
- Grades: 2-11
- Grades 2-11: English-Language Arts, Mathematics - Grade 7: Writing - Grades 8-11: History-Social Science - Grades 5, 8-11: Science
California Achievement Tests, Sixth Edition (CAT/6 Survey)- No longer administered (per Budget Act of 2008)
California Modified Assessment (CMA)- For students whose individualized education program indicates assessment with the CMA
- Grades: 3-11
- Grades 3-9: English-Language Arts - Grades 7-11: Algebra - Grades 3-7: Mathematics - Grade 7: Writing - Grades 5, 8, 10: Science
California Alternate Performance Assessment (CAPA)- For students with significant cognitive disabilities who are unable to take the CSTs even with accommodations or modifications and whose individualized education program indicates assessment with the CAPA
- Grades: 2-11
- Grades 2-11: English-Language Arts, Mathematics - Grades 5, 8, 10: Science
Standards-based Tests in Spanish (STS)- For spanish-speaking English learners who either receive instruction in their primary language or have been enrolled in a school in the United States less than 12 months
- Grades: 2-11
- Subjects: Reading/Language Arts, Mathematics
National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP)- Grades: 4, 8, and 12
- Subjects: U.S. History, Civics, Geography, Writing, and Mathematics
- Also known as the Nation's Report Card
- The largest nationally representative assessment of what America’s students know and can do in a variety of subjects
