General Description of the Tests CRT ELA (English Language Arts Criterion-Referenced Tests) - Assess the knowledge and skill of students as outlined in the Utah Core Curriculum
- Grades 2 11
- Reading, Writing, and Listening
- Based on the belief that reading is critical to all areas of student success, this series of tests incorporates reading passages from a variety of content areas.
CRT Math - Grades 2-7, Algebra 1 and 2, Geometry, Pre-Algebra
CRT Science (Science Core Criterion-Referenced Test) - Measures student understanding of the science Core Curriculum
- Data available related to this test includes how the group of students performed in each of the subcategories of the curriculum, student proficiency levels, and percent of students in each proficiency level.
- Grades 4-8
- Earth, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics
Direct Writing Assessment (DWA) - A Criterion-Referenced Test that is designed to assess the writing skills of Utah students
- Grades 6 and 9
- The scoring rubric, which is aligned with the Utah Core Curriculum for language arts, focuses on six components of writing: ideas & content, organization, voice, word choice, sentence fluency, and conventions.
Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS) - A nationally standardized, norm-referenced achievement test designed to measure students achievement
- Administered in order to evaluate the achievement of Utah students in relation to the achievement of students across the United States
- Grades K-12
- Reading, Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies
National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) - The only nationally representative and continuing assessment of what America's students know and can do in various subject areas
- Grades 4 and 8
- Reading/Language Arts, Writing, Math, Science
