Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) - Grades: 3-10
- Subjects: Reading, Mathematics, Writing, English Language Arts, Science, Social Studies
- Measures a student’s mastery of the state-mandated curriculum
- Available in Spanish
- Designed to measure the extent to which a student has learned and is able to apply the defined knowledge and skills at each tested grade level
Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills - Modified (TAKS-M) - Grades: 3-11
- Subjects: Reading, Mathematics, Writing, English Language Arts, Science, Social Studies
- An alternate assessment based on modified academic achievement standards designed for students receiving special education services who meet participation requirements
- TAKS–M covers the same grade-level content as TAKS, but TAKS–M tests have been changed in format (larger font, fewer items per page, etc.) and test design (fewer answer choices, simpler vocabulary and sentence structure, etc.).
Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills–Alternate (TAKS–Alt) - Grades: 3-11
- Subjects: Reading, Mathematics, Writing, English Language Arts, Science, Social Studies
- An assessment designed for students with significant cognitive disabilities to meet the federal requirements mandated under the No Child Left Behind Act
- The assessment involves teachers observing students as they complete teacher-designed activities that link to the grade-level TAKS curriculum.
