General Description of the Tests New Jersey Assessment of Skills and Knowledge (NJ ASK) - Grades: 3 - 8
- Subjects: Language Arts Literacy (including Reading, Writing, Speaking, Listening, and Viewing), Mathematics, Science, Visual and Performing Arts, Social Studies, Health and Physical Education, World Languages
- Designed to give the school information about how well your children are achieving in the areas required by New Jersey’s Core Curriculum Content Standards
Grade Eight Proficiency Assessment (GEPA) - Grade: 8
- Subjects: Language Arts Literacy, Mathematics, Science
- Designed to indicate the progress students are making in mastering the knowledge and skills specified in the Core Curriculum Content Standards
Alternate Proficiency Assessment (APA) - Grades: 3-8, 11, high school
- Subjects: Language Arts Literacy, Mathematics, Science
- A portfolio assessment designed to measure progress toward achieving New Jersey’s state educational standards for those students with severe disabilities who are unable to participate in the New Jersey Assessment of Skills and Knowledge (NJASK) or the High School Proficiency Assessment (HSPA)
- Students in high school will be assessed in science in the year they receive instruction in the biology standards.
National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) - Grades: 4, 8, 12
- Subjects: Reading, Mathematics, Science, Writing, History, Geography, and other elementary and secondary school subjects
