General Description of the Tests The Arkansas Comprehensive Testing, Assessment and Accountability Program (ACTAAP) is a comprehensive system that includes high academic standards, professional development, student assessment, and accountability for schools.
There are two types of student assessment. - Criterion-Referenced Tests (CRTs)
– Focus on measuring student performance on items that align with the Arkansas Mathematics and English Language Arts Curriculum Frameworks – Developed by Arkansas teachers and the Arkansas Department of Education
- Norm-Referenced Tests (NRTs)
– The Stanford Achievement Test, Tenth Edition (SAT-10) – Focus on rank-ordering student performance based on national norms – Contain items in the subsections of reading comprehension, math problem solving, and language – Administered in grades K-2 and grade 9 Assessment Information The Augmented Benchmark Examinations - The state-mandated criterion-referenced testing combined with norm-reference testing to form the Augmented Benchmark Examinations.
- Grades: 3-8
- Contain a science portion in grades 5 and 7
In grades 9-12, the state-mandated CRT includes the Grade 11 Literacy Examination and End-of-Course Examinations in algebra I, geometry, and biology. - Grade 11 Literacy Examination
– Includes items that are aligned to the English Language Arts Curriculum Framework
- End-of-Course Examinations
– Include items that are aligned to the standards of specific courses contained within the Arkansas Mathematics and Science Curriculum Frameworks
The Arkansas Alternate Portfolio Assessment System - Designed to evaluate the performance of students with significant cognitive disabilities
