General Description of the Tests

Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA)

• Grades: 3-8, 11
• Subjects: Reading, Mathematics, Science, Writing
• A standards based criterion-referenced assessment used to measure a student's attainment of the academic standards while also determining the degree to which school programs enable students to attain proficiency of the standards

PA Alternate System of Assessment (PASA)

• Designed for students with cognitive disabilities

National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP)

• Grades: 4, 8, 12
